So what would be better than a park full of hot air balloons? It was surprisingly cold for August. but that didn’t stop Ethan from running around yelling the different colors of the 6 or 7 different balloons. He did get a little freaked when they started blasting the fire three feet away from us.

So its been way too long since I wrote on this blog but my photography one has kept me really busy. For those that didn’t know we added another member to our family. His name is Hank. Its really a funny story how we got him. Our friend Landon had a birthday coming up, and his wife wanted to surprise him with a puppy. So we helped her find a cute little puppy on KSL. Once we all saw the picture of these cute little Basset Hounds we knew they were perfect. We organized a good lie about having to go up to Midway to pick up something and then go shopping at the outlets while we were there. Landon and Hayley agreed to come up. Needless to say he was way surprised and loved the puppies right when we saw them. After a little while of looking at the puppies, Taryn asked Landon if he had picked on out yet that he liked. He grabbed the fattest one there and said yes I want this one. Right then Taryn picked up another one and looked at me and said I want this one. I was very surprised, but I love dogs and could never say no. We named the little guy Hank and Landon named his Walter.
Now that the excitement has died down a bit, we still think he is way cute but the potty training is a pain in the butt. There is nothing like standing outside at 3 am, waiting for a dog to pee just as the sprinklers turn on. Ethan really loves him and wants to play with him all the time so I guess we will keep him.

He has had this bike for over a year now but hasn’t been tall enough to reach the pedals. So I decided to bring it up and try again. Not only is he tall enough to ride it, but he knew how to pedal without any instruction from me. He then ran downstairs and grabbed a frisbee and balanced it on his head while he rode around the house. When the frisbee would fall off he would get upset and start crying. I couldn’t figure out why he insisted on riding with a frisbee on his head, so I asked him what the deal was, he looked at me with his sad eyes and said “elmet daddy.” I busted up laughing, and told Taryn that he thinks the frisbee is a helmet. Since it was Sunday I couldn’t just go get him a decent helmet but I also couldn’t get the frisbee to stay on his head either, so I found a plastic bowl and lined it with Duct Tape. Needless to say it stayed on his head the rest of the day. As you can see by the pictures we did eventually get him a real helmet.
Thanks Dora for instilling the importance of bike safety in my son. I’ve promised Mo not to let Ethan be that kid that goes everywhere wearing his dorky helmet.

With popcorn glued all over it like I was a third grader. When I got home Taryn had a surprise for me that I just loved. She always is creative and talented when it comes to gifts for me. She made and framed the picture collage of Ethan shown above. We then dropped the kids off and went to the gym for an hour of couples yoga. As weird as that might sound, both of us really like yoga so it was a lot of fun. We planned on going to a new restaurant in draper that features healthy food but as we passed Ginza (sushi restaurant) we couldn’t resist. We ordered three different rolls of sushi and we LOVED it. Feeling relaxed and on a sushi high we headed to the theaters. Every chick flick was totally full so we decided to watch Taken. Not romantic I know but we both wanted to see it. Taryn was shaking the entire movie and occasionally shouting things like “Kill ‘em” and “I like this guy” for any of you who have watched this movie you will understand that our daughter is never leaving the country without a personal Liam Neeson. I’m looking forward to seeing what everyone else did (gives me ideas for next year).

Sorry its been forever since last post, but I have been working on getting a Photo Blog set up.
